Hailing the Centre's move to demonetise, the Janata Dal (United) on Thursday urged it to chalk out measures to pull the nation out of the present monetary crisis.
JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan told ANI, "The JD(U) backs demonetisation. However, we believe that the preparedness in the regard was not adequate. The government should chalk out some methods to give people some relief from the crash crisis. And if it is able to do so then I believe the nation will benefit from this drive."
Parliament yesterday witnessed a riled opposition yet again locking horns with the government over the move to scrap Rs. 500 and 1,000 currency notes that has triggered both chaos and confusion across the nation.
Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad yesterday drew parallel between the demonetisation drive and the September 18 Uri terror attack, leading him to be described as anti-national by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu.
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Azad said terrorists from Pakistan did not kill half the people in Uri than the number of people who have died because of the demonetisation drive.
