Apple CEO Tim Cook has reportedly said that the company has 'some really great stuff' planned for this year, including new categories and products.
In his interview with The Wall Street Journal, when asked if 'new categories' might refer to a refinement of an existing one, like an iPad Air or new mobile payment services, Cook said that any 'reasonable' person would deem what the company is working on as a new category.
According to Mashable, Cook's statement comes amidst the ongoing discussion about Apple's decision to repurchase 14 billion dollars of its own shares after the company's stock fell 8 percent on January 28.
The report said that Apple has not launched a product in a new category since the iPad in 2010, except for improvised versions of its existing products.
The tech giant is rumoured to be working on a smartwatch, dubbed iWatch, and a fitness-tracking software, which could soon find its way into the wearable computing gadget, the report added.
