Chennaiyin displayed a brilliant performance as they claimed a 2-1 win over the touring Pune City in the second edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) here at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Saturday.
It was defender Bernard Mendy who smacked an opening goal to put his side in lead in the 35th minute of the game.
Soon after the second half, forward Stiven Mendoza took a great advantage of midfielder Elano's assist to double their lead.
Pune City forward Kalu Uche, however, managed to score a goal in the 85th minute to make it 1-2 against the hosts.
With the win, Chennayin grabbed second spot in the league standings with nine points from six games they have played.
The next match will be held between Mumbai City FC and FC Goa at D.Y. Patil Stadium.
