Cheryl Cole and her former Girls Aloud bandmate, Nicola Roberts, have reportedly been working on some songs together for Cole's fourth studio album.

An insider told the Mirror that writing songs together seemed like the perfect opportunity to keep some of the Girls Aloud spirit alive.

The source asserted that the duo will get to hang out together and make music - their two favourite things to do.

It is understood that the 'Fight For This Love' singer really likes Robert's writing skills and had previously tried to get her to write a tune for her third album, but their schedules didn't match up.

Meanwhile, Roberts is believed to be gearing up to release the first single from her second album soon.
