Chidambaram to meet Customs Commissioners in Delhi tomorrow

Finance Minister P. Chidambaram will inaugurate the All India Annual Conference of Chief Commissioners and Directors General of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax at the Vigyan Bhawan here on Wednesday.

The two-day conference will deliberate on the issues relevant to indirect tax administration, such as Additional Revenue Mobilization (Steps and Implementation), Tax Administration Reforms, Service Tax, Vision for IT Infrastructure for CBEC, Status of GST and Role of CBEC in its implementation and GSTN.

Chief Economic Advisor in the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Raghuram G. Rajan, will deliver the annual "B.N. Banerjee memorial Lecture" named after the first Chairman of CBEC, on " State of the Economy: Prospects and Opportunities''.

Minister of State (Revenue) Jesudasu Seelam, will preside over the memorial lecture.

Dr. Pritam Singh, Director General, International Management Institute, New Delhi will address the conference, on the second day, on "Transformational Leadership in 21st Century."

The conference provides a platform for the Chief Commissioners and Directors General to discuss various technical issues and share best practices in an open house.
