Australian skipper Michael Clarke has revealed that he summoned his former vice-captain Shane Watson for a private talk in the aftermath of controversial batsman David Warner's bar-room scuffle with England's Joe Root in Birmingham during Australia's ill-fated ICC Champions League campaign.

Clarke has revealed the rare titbit, for which Warner was suspended, in his Ashes diary, which was released on Sunday.

According to Telegraph.com.au, at that time, it was claimed that Watson, who had been stood down from the third Test in India for not submitting team homework, felt that the team management's initial inaction over the Warner incident was tantamount to double standards.

The report mentioned that Clarke called Watson to his hotel room for a private meeting as he had sensed a potential disharmony within team ranks.

Clarke further wrote in his diary that he had received numerous phone calls from players in the one-day squad and from staff referring to Watson's attitude around the group at that time, which made him call Watson.
