Coca-Cola's 'Reasons to Believe' ad, which originally included a clip of two men at their wedding, has been replaced with one of an interracial couple getting married for the Irish version.
The original version ran in the UK, the Netherlands and Norway, the New York Daily News reported.
The scene uses footage from a same-sex union ceremony in Australia.
Coca-Cola created an uplifting ad to remind people that the good in the world outweighs the bad.
However, instead of raising the spirits of some viewers, the version of the advertisement that aired in Ireland elicited criticism.
A Coca-Cola spokesman told TheJournal.ie that the ads were adjusted for each country based on consumer research.
The company did not include the same-sex ceremony in the Irish ad because gay marriage is not legal in the country, the spokesman said.
