Washington D.C. [USA], Mar 31 (ANI): India ambassador to the United States, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, on Monday (local time) said India and the US are maintaining strong and robust cooperation of medical specialists in the fight against coronavirus.

"There are regular exchanges between ministers, foreign secretaries, and other institutions over the pandemic. There is also very strong and robust cooperation among the medical specialists of ICMR and CDC, as far as some of the medicines and equipment are concerned. India is helping the United States and vice versa. In India's case, some supply chains are being impacted. The US is informing us about them and we are trying to help," the ambassador told ANI exclusively.

The researchers in both countries are continuously engaged with each other, exchanging information and sharing facts regarding the bug, the ambassador said.

"However, tests are still being conducted. FDA approval has to be received before using drugs. We are closely following these developments and many of the US companies are in touch with Indian organisations as well," Sandhu stressed.

According to media reports, the US with more than 160,000 confirmed cases now has the most confirmed cases worldwide and nearly 3,000 deaths. While in India, the highly contagious virus has infected at least 1,251 people, including 32 deaths.

In view of the surging cases, India has also suspended all international flights from landing at any airport in the country. As a result of which, many Indian nationals are stranded at various places abroad, including the US.
