Congress creating obstacles in Chhattisgarh's development work: Modi

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday accused the central government of creating obstacles in the development work of Chhattisgarh.

"The government of Mother-Son duo (Sonia and Rahul) had a one point program that if just like in Bhilai, in Bilaspur also there is development, then the credit will go to the BJP, which should not happen," said Modi while addressing a rally here.

He also accused the Congress of neglecting the needs of the Chhattisgarh when it was a part of Madhya Pradesh, and added that it was Atal Bihari Vajpayee who made Chhattisgarh a separate state.

"Today, Chhattisgarh is one of the fastest developing states of the country," he said.

Praising Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, Modi said, "Shivraj Singh Chouhan changed MP from a 'bimaru' state while Raman Singh brought Chhattisgarh on the map of development."

He also said that the central government had promised in their election manifesto of providing employment to around 10 crore youth.

"Did anyone get a job? Does any friend of yours get a job? Does any family member of yours get a job? Is it not a betrayal of people?" he asked.

"The country has changed, Rahulji. Now the people are not going to accept your lies anymore. You have fooled the people enough," he added.

In an apparent jibe at Robert Vadra, Modi said, "Nobody got employment but his brother-in-law definitely got one. Is anyone who can make 300 crore in three years out of one lakh rupees."

He asked whether the people want such a government again and allow the country to get destroyed.
