Congress for JPC on DDCA'irregularities', seeks Jaitley's removal

Demanding setting up of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe into the alleged irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) involving Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Congress leader Ajay Maken on Wednesday said "Jaitley should resign from his post for a fair and impartial probe".

Addressing a press conference here, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Maken, said "The DDCA irregularity is a very serious matter, and thus, serious examination should be done and serious action should be taken. The DDCA issue should not be diluted, and should not be marred into political controversy as grave irregularities have been committed."

Demanding Jaitley's resignation, he said: "As long as Mr. Jaitley is the Finance Minister, and is the minister in-charge of corporate law affairs, how can you expect a fair trial to take place under his finance ministership?"

Lambasting the Arvind Kejriwal Government for holding back the DDCA report for nearly a month, he said,: "The DDCA report was put before Kejriwal one month back, and since last one month nothing has happened in the report. And, when Kejriwal's Principal Secretary Rajender Kumar's office was raided on Tuesday, he is taking up this issue and linking the CBI raid in connection with a graft case involving Kumar with the DDCA."

"The Delhi Government on November 12 had constituted a committee to look into the DDCA case, and gave three days to them for submitting the report. The report was handed over to the government on November 15, then why the Delhi Government was sitting on the report for over a month," Maken sought to know from the Kejriwal Government.

"If Kejriwal's conscience is clear he should go in for a Court-monitored CBI inquiry into the DDCA case, and should not talk about the commission of inquiry," he added.

Meanwhile, he also read out some issues raised in the report.

Earlier on Wednesday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas said the CBI "raid on the Chief Minister's Office" (CMO) was an attempt to divert attention from the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) "graft" issue, but however Finance Minister Arun Jaitley uses CBI, he would not succeed.

"We will come out with details concerning the DDCA before the press on Thursday," said added.

Kejriwal on Tuesday had alleged that the CBI was searching for the DDCA files aimed at searching files related to graft cases, in which Jaitley was involved, which was rubbished by Jaitley.
