Congress workers in Delhi and Lucknow today celebrated the 44th birthday of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi even though he is not in the country.
Rahul's absence, however, did not deter the spirit of Congress supporters as they celebrated their party's Vice President's birthday with a huge cake.
A Congress worker said that the Uttar Pradesh Congress committee was celebrating his birthday. He added, "earlier before his birthday we used spend time in Dalits houses. His birthday will be celebrated in all district committees."
The worker also expressed the hope that under Rahul Gandhi's leadership, Congress will come back to power in UP.
The Congress supporters had also arranged for music and banners wishing Rahul a happy birthday. They burst crackers on the street to show their support for him.
Some workers also held a 'hawan', wishing for his long life and well-being.
