The Congress workers staged a protest outside the party's office here on Sunday appealing to party vice-president Rahul Gandhi to take the initiative of bringing his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra into politics.
Carrying posters which read ''Priyanka lao Congress bachao' (Bring Priyanka save Congress)', the protestors demanded that Priyanka should enter into active politics and support her brother Rahul.
"All Congress workers today appeal to Rahul Gandhi that he should take the initiative of bringing Priyanka Gandhi into politics. It's important to get her into politics so that she can support Rahul and refrain Prime Minister Narendra Modi from turning his dream of a Congress free India into reality," said a Congress worker.
He added that the Congress resides in the heart of every individual, and added that it needs a direction which should be guided by Priyanka and Rahul.
Moreover, reacting to the early trends of assembly elections which show the Congress losing in both Maharashtra and Haryana, he said, "Seeing the early trends, Prime Minister Modi's dream seems to come to reality, but we need to stop that. I can assure you that had Priyanka fought from Maharashtra and Haryana then these wouldn't have been the results and they would have been in Congress' favour."
The Congress worker further said that if Rahul Gandhi doesn't listen to their appeal, they will continue to protest and stage 'dharnas' all over the country.
Early trends show Congress at third position in both the states, with 45 seats in Maharashtra and only 15 in Haryana.
