Employees of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) staged a protest here against the government on Saturday for neglecting their demand for regularisation.
"For the past seven to eight years we are part of NHRM on a contractual basis. Neither is any regularisation happening, nor do we get our pay on time. That is the reason we are fighting for our rights
so that we can become regular as we are on duty for 24 hours," said a protestor.
"We want leaves which are never granted to us," added another.
Hundreds of employees from different districts, including doctors, paramedical staff, technicians of the health department who are working on a contractual basis under National Rural Health Mission
(NRHM) reached Srinagar press colony, Lal Chowk, shouting slogans of justice.
The police tried to foil their programme and arrested a dozen of them.
