England captain Alastair Cook has stated that cricket has never been safe, commenting in the light of Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes tragic accident.
Cook believes that the game should be played in the same manner as it has not been safer ever than it is now. He said that the safety provisions over the last few years have gone through the roof, adding that bouncer deliveries should not be prohibited, the BBC reported.
Cook further added that it has been a tough few days for everyone, and players who played with Hughes in county cricket could be rested for the second one-day international against Sri Lanka.
The England team has also paid tribute by placing their bats in a row outside their dressing room in Colombo.
