In spite of suffering a three-nil series loss to India, England skipper Alastair Cook has said that he is not thinking of quitting as one-day captain.

Tuesday's nine-wicket loss was the latest of three heavy defeats only five months before next year's Cricket World Cup.

The BBC quoted Cook, as saying that he was still very hungry to lead the side, but if the ECB management felt otherwise, it was their decision to make.

Former England cricketer Jonathan Agnew maintained that the gulf between the two sides was like an absolute chasm, and called on the England selectors and the ECB management to carry out what he called "a root-and-branch review of their plans for the World Cup".

Responding to calls for his sacking, Cook said that it was a very hard place to work from and critics needed to understand that in sport, changes take place very quickly.

Cook has been in charge of the England one-day international side since 2011. He averages 40.29 as ODI skipper, though that figure was as high as 47.35 in 2012, and has since dropped to 29.83 for 2014.
