Cricket Australia has expressed confidence that their fast bowler Billy Stanlake will be fit in time for his side's tour to the United Kingdom in June, even if the player needs to undergo finger surgery.
Earlier, the 23-year-old was ruled out of remainder of Sunrisers Hyderabad's Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign after fracturing his pinky finger of right hand during the side's four-run defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) last Sunday.
Though it is yet to be confirmed for how long Stanlake would remain out of action, the medical staff are hoping to see the fast bowler making a return ahead of the England tour, cricket.com.au reported.
Stanlake appeared in just two ODIs for Australia in 2017, while he has also displayed impressive performance during the national side's T20 tri-series triumph against England and New Zealand in February.
The pacer has also been in fine form for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL season as he bagged five wickets besides also scoring the winning runs in their victory over Mumbai.
It should be noted that Australia are all set to announce the ODI and T20I squad for the tour against England, which will be the side's first series since the massive ball-tampering scandal against South Africa last month.
Australia are slated to play five-match ODI series against England from June 13 at The Oval before the two sides will lock horns in lone T20I match at Edgbaston on June 27.
