Cricket South Africa (CSA) will now be eligible to bid and host major international tournaments as a ban on it has been lifted with immediate effect after meeting the government's transformation criteria.
Besides CSA, three other sporting federations Athletics South Africa (ASA)‚ Netball South Africa (NSA) and South African Rugby Union (SARU) were issued sanction due to their failure to meet their transformation targets, reports ESPNcricinfo.
Sports Minister Thembelani Nxesi confirmed that except ASA, they have lifted the ban on all the other sports federation when presenting the annual Eminent Persons Group (EPG) report.
The EPG report is a yearly assessment by an independent committee on various sports' commitment to and execution of transformation.
There were some reports that South Africa are considered among the front-runners to host the ICC World T20 in 2018.
