Soul singer Cuba Gooding Sr., the father of Oscar-winner Cuba Gooding Jr., was found dead in his car, says police and the Los Angeles County Coroner's office.
Gooding, who found fame in his own right with the 1972 hit 'Everybody Plays the Fool,' was 72 and is survived by his wife and four children.
According to CNN, LAPD officers located Gooding, in the Woodland Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon.
Another report by TMZ said police found empty booze containers in the car, leading to the suspicion that he died from an overdose.
However, as per a spokesperson for the coroner, an autopsy is pending.
