Oscar-winning director Woody Allen has responded to adopted daughter Dylan Farrow's allegations of sexual assault against him, which she recently detailed in a lengthy television interview.

Farrow said she decided to give her first TV interview on the alleged assault that occurred when she was seven because of the groundswell of public support for victims of sexual harassment and abuse.

The 82-year-old filmmaker, on the other hand, said Farrow and the rest of her family are 'cynically' using the Time's Up movement to seek revenge.

"When this claim was first made more than 25 years ago... [investigators] found it likely a vulnerable child had been coached to tell the story by her angry mother during a contentious breakup," he said as reported by The Telegraph.

"It seems to have worked - and, sadly, I'm sure Dylan truly believes what she says," he added.

"But even though the Farrow family is cynically using the opportunity afforded by the Time's Up movement to repeat this discredited allegation, that doesn't make it any more true today than it was in the past. I never molested my daughter - as all investigations concluded a quarter of a century ago."

Allen has repeatedly denied decades-old accusations that he molested Farrow when she was seven years old in the early 1990s.
