The sequel of the 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes', 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' has made 73 million dollars in its opening weekend.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, though the film revenue surged well ahead of its prequel, which made 54.8 million dollars in its debut in August 2011, North American box office revenue was down nearly 24 percent from the same weekend in 2013.
The film is directed by Matt Reeves from a script by Mark Bomback, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
