Convicted war criminal and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman was transferred to the Dhaka central jail from the Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur today, a day after the Supreme Court had upheld his death penalty.

He was transferred to the Dhaka around 2:10pm today, Farman Ali, senior jail superintendent of the Dhaka Central Jail, told The Daily Star.

The apex court verdict has paved the way for execution of the Jamaat leader, a key organiser of the infamous Al-Badr Bahini responsible for abducting, torturing and killing freedom fighters, intellectuals and pro-liberation people in 1971.
