Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday launched the farmer compensation scheme at a rally in outer Delhi's Bawana by distributing cheques to the farmers who have suffered heavy losses due to unseasonal rains.
The scheme, named 'Gajendra Singh Kisan Sahayta Yojana', has been dedicated to the farmer who committed suicide during an AAP rally at Jantar Mantar.
"Whosoever has suffered damage of up to 70 percent in the crops will get 70 percent compensation and those who have more than 70 percent damage in crops will get 100 percent compensation," said Kejriwal.
"We have decided to dedicate the scheme to 'Shaheed Gajendra Singh' and make a memorial in the memory of Gajendra Singh," he added.
The Delhi government will also provide jobs to Singh's children when they are eligible to work, Kejriwal assured.
