The Delhi High Court on Wednesday will pronounce its order on a plea seeking relaxation of the Rs 2.5 lakh withdrawal limit for marriages after the currency ban.

In his plea, petitioner Birender Sangwan termed the existing government guidelines as "arbitrary" that sought a detailed list of persons to whom the cash withdrawn is proposed to be paid for the marriage and a declaration from them that they do not have a bank account.

During the hearing, the counsel appearing for petitioner said that the cap on withdrawal of Rs 2.5 lakh for marriages should be relaxed in view of the customary donations given during the wedding.

The Supreme Court is also hearing the Centre's plea to transfer all pending petitions before various courts across the country to either the apex court or high court.
