Metro train services were affected today from 8.58 a.m. to 9.32 a.m. due to a problem in the Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system of a train going from Jahangirpuri towards HUDA City Centre in the capital on Friday.
A train while leaving the Civil Lines station could not move in ATP mode and efforts were made to reset the ATP system at intermediate stations of Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazar.
Due to loss of ATP, as a safety procedure, the train was moving at a restricted speed of 25 kmph only. As this led to a bunching up of trains, the train was withdrawn from service at the New Delhi Metro station at 9.32 a.m. and was sent to the depot for further investigation.
In order to cater to the peak hour rush, (Delhi Metro Rail Cooperation) DMRC inducted two additional trains for interchange stations of Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat during this period and necessary announcements were also made at the stations advising the commuters about the movement of trains and delay in service.
