Despite a rise in the prices, the sales of dry fruits have soared by a 100 percent in the local market in Srinagar due the holy month of Ramadan.

Different varieties of dry fruits like almonds, coconut, cashew nut, pistachios and raisins are preferred during this month.

Many delicacies like pulav, halva and pherni are cooked with these fruits which are mostly consumed during the Sehri and Iftar times.

The local also believe that the intake of these fruits during this month improves the digestive system and keeps a person warm as they have a lot of vitamins and proteins.

The traders dealing with the dry fruit business are registering a brisk business and increase in their sales during this month.
