Recalled England batsman Nick Compton has said that he will fully apply himself in the upcoming Test series against South Africa.
Compton, who was included in the squad after a gap of two years, smashed half-century in the opening match against a South African Invitational XI.
The 32-year-old, who was expected to compete with Gary Ballance for the number three position, stressed that he had done a lot of hard work and that he was ready to face the ball.
According to Sport24, the right-hand batsman believes that his game would be well suited to an England line-up.
Compton made nine Test appearances for England, scoring 479 runs at an average of 31.93.
Meanwhile, South Africa, who recently suffered a humiliating 0-3 series defeat against India, will now aim to bounce back when they will take on England in a four-match series, starting from December 26 in Durban.
