Thousands of devotees across the country thronged at the banks of the Sangam on Thursday morning to take holy dip on the occasion of Kartik Poornima
Places including Allahabad, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Mathura Naimisaranya and Garh Mukteshwar witnessed devotees performing rituals to mark the occasion.
At several places measures have been taken for awareness of people for Ganga cleanliness and stop the use polythene bags.
Massive security arrangements have also been made across the state on the occasion.
Gurudwaras have been decorated nicely and scores of devotees are continuously reaching to offer their prayers to the first Sikh guru on his 545th birth anniversary. The recital of the Guru Granth Sahib continues at Gurudwaras.
