Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan steered his India A team to victory in a 50-over match against South Africa A as he made the second highest score in limited overs cricket by recording 248 from 150 balls.
According to Sport24, India A made 433-3 with Dhawan's huge total at the LC de Villiers Oval in Pretoria, which was spiced with 30 fours and seven sixes.
The report further said that the 194-minute spell at the crease for Dhawan, whose score fell 20 runs short of the 268 scored by England and Surrey cricketing legend Ali Brown against Glamorgan 11 years ago, finally ended when he was caught by wicketkeeper Dane Vilas off the bowling of Juan Theron.
According to the report, India won by 39 runs although the individual centuries of South Africa A cricketers Reeza Hendricks and Vaughn van Jaarsveld lifted their side to 394 all out after 48.4 overs.
The report further said that Cheteshwar Pujara was another batsman to torment the South Africans, coming in at No. 3 to hit an unbeaten 109 off 97 balls while Dhawan's opening partner Murali Vijay contributed 40 off 37 balls as India made the most of winning the toss with his 51-minute stand.
The left-handed Dhawan scored 187 on his Test debut for India last March against Australia in Mohali and passed the 100-run mark in that Test off 85 balls, which was the quickest ton by an Indian in a first Test appearance.
