Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP P.C. Mohan has written a letter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) demanding a probe against Congress MLC K. Govindaraju in connection with an alleged Rs. 1000 crore diary scam.

The Income Tax department officers had during a raid conducted on March 15, 2016, found a dairy which contained the details of bribery money and corruption amounts which have been allegedly received and paid to various Karnataka Government ministers and also some Congress leaders in New Delhi including Congress member and the party's treasurer M. Vora.

Mohan, the lawmaker from Bengaluru constituency, has said that a detailed investigation would bring out the truth and facts.

"Given the huge corruption and losses to the Government of India exchequer, I request you once again to register a Regular Case (RC) against K. Govindaraju and investigate the matter in detail to bring the huge Rs. 1000 crore bribery scam and scandal to light and take necessary action to punish the perpetrators of this corruption scam in Karnataka and New Delhi," the letter read.

The details of a secret diary of Congress MLC K. Govindaraju, who is also the parliamentary secretary to Karnataka's Chief Minister, reportedly contains details of alleged payments that were made by Karnataka ministers to the Congress high command during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

State BJP chief B.S. Yedyurappa claimed the diary contained 'explosive information' about money paid to top Congress leaders including party president Sonia Gandhi, party vice-president Rahul Gandhi, party general secretary Digvijay Singh and party treasurer Vohra.

Vohra, however, has denied any connection with the case.
