Australian opener Aaron Finch has said that he and fellow opener David Warner are responsible for Australia's disastrous World Twenty20 campaign.
Warner (48 off 35 balls) was at his punishing best and Finch (71 off 45 balls) joined in the run-flurry to ensure Australia coasted to an easy win in the dead-rubber match against Bangladesh in the their final World T20 match.
According to News.com.au, although Finch was happy that he could combine with Warner to produce a good opening knock, he however, believes that both of them have been very disappointing in this tournament as a partnership and as such, were responsible for Australia's lack of wins in the tournament.
Finch also said that it is even more frustrating that it took them until the final game to have a big partnership and to be out of the tournament already, adding that in the shortest format of the game, a team needs to rely on their openers for a good score and they failed to do that in earlier matches.
Finch also said that they let themselves down in all three disciplines over the first couple of games, adding that they came to Bangladesh with hopes to win the competition and they are going home with nothing.
