World No.2 Novak Djokovic and Swiss veteran Roger Federer have sailed into the third round of the French Open on Wednesday with straight set second-round wins.

The Serb, who needs to win the French Open to complete a career Grand Slam, defeated Frenchman Jeremy Chardy 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in just over 90 minutes in his ninth win in as many meetings against the world number 42.

According to the BBC, Federer beat Argentine qualifier Diego Sebastian Schwartzman 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 to set up a meeting with Russian 31st seed Dmitry Tursunov in the next round for a place in the last 16.

Djokovic next faces 25th seed Marin Cilic of Croatia, who beat Germany's Tobias Kamke 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.

Federer has not reached a Grand Slam final since winning his 17th major title at Wimbledon in 2012, the report added.
