Russian ace Maria Sharapova and men's tennis World No.2 Novak Djokovic has advanced to the quarter-finals of the French Open on Sunday following their respective round four victories.
Sharapova, who clinched the Roland Garros title for the first time in 2012, won nine games in succession to wrap up a 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 victory over Australian Sam Stosur to reach the last eight.
According to the BBC, in the men's draw, the Serb brushed aside France's Jo-Wilfred Tsonga 6-1, 6-4, 6-1 to reach the quarter-finals and will next play Canadian Milos Raonic, who beat Spaniard Marcel Granollers 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.
Meanwhile, Canada's Eugenie Bouchard joined Sharapova in the women's singles quarterfinals by beating Angelique Kerber 6-1, 6-2 in 52 minutes and she will now play clay-court specialist Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain, who beat Croatia's Ajla Tomljanovic 6-3, 6-3, the report added.
