Good news for all the 'Downtown Abbey' fans, as the movie has finally got a release date.

Focus Features is all set to treat the fans with the movie on September 20, 2019, in North America, while Universal Pictures International will debut the film worldwide a week earlier on September 13, 2019, reported Variety.

"Since the series ended, fans of 'Downton' have long been waiting for the Crawley family's next chapter," said Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski.

"We're thrilled to join this incredible group of filmmakers, actors and craftspeople, led by Julian Fellowes and Gareth Neame, in bringing back the world of 'Downton' to the big screen next September," he added.

The announcement of the British historical drama series to return as a movie first came out in July.

The production started in late August. The companies had announced that the principal cast including Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth McGovern, Maggie Smith, and Hugh Bonneville would return for the movie. Imelda Staunton, Geraldine James, Simon Jones, David Haig, Tuppence Middleton, Kate Phillips, and Stephen Campbell Moore have also joined the star cast of the film.

Julian Fellowes, who created the series and also wrote the movie's screenplay, will produce the upcoming flick alongside Neame and Liz Trubridge.

Brian Percival, who had earlier directed the series' plot, will be the executive producer for the movie alongside Nigel Marchant--who is also set to return as the executive producer. Michael Engler will serve as the director.

The television series revolved around the lives of the fictional characters of Crawley family and the servants who worked for them in an Edwardian English country home.

The show had six seasons and bagged 15 Primetime Emmy Awards with 69 Emmy nominations in total, making it the most nominated non-U.S. television show in the history of Emmy Awards. It also won three Golden Globes and a special BAFTA award.
