South African all-rounder JP Duminy has said that upcoming series between South Africa A and India A is the ideal platform for him to regain the rhythm of red-ball cricket.

According to Sport24, Duminy was added into the squad for the two unofficial four-day Tests to be played in Rustenburg and Pretoria, and boosted a squad full of with players vying for Test spots.

The report further said that Duminy recently made a full recovery from the ruptured Achilles tendon, which he sustained in November 2012, and has shown good form since a Man of the Series performance against Sri Lanka in the Twenty20 international series.

Stating that the upcoming series will help him get back into the feel of four-day cricket after a long time on the sidelines, Duminy said that although he had initially planned to play Test cricket for Surrey for a few months, it fell through because of his contractual obligations with the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Sunrisers Hyderabad.

According to Duminy, he is feeling stronger and fitter than ever as it has been nearly nine months since the injury happened in Australia, adding that the next step for him is to transfer his form on the field and cover all the bases as they have a packed and exciting schedule of cricket coming up in the next season.

Praising the India A team, Duminy said that they have a strong team featuring players like Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Murali Vijay and Shikar Dhawan, adding that he and coach Russell Domingo felt that the series would be a good platform for him to spend some much needed time in the middle against quality opposition.

The series is an appealing appetizer of what is to come this summer, with India heading over for three Tests, seven ODIs and two T20Is, the report added.
