Taking an apparent dig at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sudhanshu Trivedi on Monday welcomed the Election Commission's (EC) decision of censuring Kejriwal over violating the Model Code of Conduct.
"BJP believes that not only did he ( Kejriwal) violate the Model Code of Conduct, but infact, he has scant regard for the Constitution. Hence, people should introspect about such political leaders while choosing them as their representatives."
As per media reports, Election Commissioner H.S. Bramha said that Kejriwal had violated the Model Code of Conduct. He reportedly said that the commission will ensure that such incidents don't occur in the future.
Kejriwal, who undertook a four-day tour of Gujarat from March 5, was detained for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct by travelling in a long carcade. Later, he was allowed to proceed.
