The Election Commission on Friday discussed the upcoming assembly polls in Delhi, but could not finalise the date for the same.

It is being speculated that elections could be held in the second or third week of February.

Delhi has been under President's rule since February 2014 after Kejriwal stepped down from power.

Lieutenant Governor (LG) Najeeb Jung in November sent a status report to the Ministry of Home Affairs over government formation in the capital after his consultations with leaders of the BJP, Congress and the AAP to explore the possibility of government formation in Delhi. He met all the three party leaders separately.

In the meeting at that time, all parties expressed their inability to form the government in Delhi.
