The Election Commission (EC) has released seized campaign material from the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) office in Varanasi, saying it was not meant for distribution.
It maybe recalled that police raided the BJP's office in Varanasi yesterday and confiscated campaign material from a vehicle, which was parked in an under-construction building.
"The commission called me up and said that they have examined the matter and since the material was not meant for distribution, they decided to release the material. There were no liquor bottles, only some T-shirts, which were saffron coloured. It was just kept there, not meant for distribution that is why it will be released," said Praveen Kumar, special observer for Varanasi.
