Egypt's new military chief sworn in post al-Sisi resignation

Egypt's new armed forces chief and defence minister has been sworn in.

The move comes a day after Abdul Fattah al-Sisi resigned to run for the presidency.

Interim President Adly Mansour confirmed General Sedki Sobhi's appointment at the weekly cabinet meeting in Cairo, the BBC reports.

According to the report, General Mahmoud Hegazi was named the army's new chief-of-staff.
