UAE-based airline Emirates has rolled out an in-house application that would reduce instances of flight delays for people travelling from or transiting through Dubai International Airport (DXB).

The application called 'Hub Monitor' observes and tracks all the activities done by the operational staff at the airport before any aircraft becomes ready to depart, Khaleej Times reported. The application also enhances passenger service by providing timely alerts to passengers who can also monitor the flight activities on the application. These alerts also allow the team to detect the problem that initiated the delay in taking off timings of any concerned flights.

"The Hub Monitor application is a unique and innovative tool developed in line with our vision to continuously re-examine our processes and introduce smart and more efficient means to improve our operations resulting in better passenger experience. Our Operations team in coordination with IT have led the development of the hub monitoring system, building on an existing solution that was already developed by Emirates Engineering," Adel Al Redha, Emirates' executive vice president and chief operations officer was quoted as saying.

"The team examining the various functions of Hub Monitor in real time are working to roll out further modules and the next module will be implemented later this month," Redha added.

The UAE-based airline provides the largest international aircraft service with a total fleet of 270 and two wide-body flights including Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft.

Each day around 255 flights are operational from Dubai to various continents all around the world, ranging from duration within an hour to more than 17 hours.
