Encounter triggers between army and militants in Kashmir

Fierce gunbattle between militants and army took place in Srinagar as security forces zeroed in following reports of militants hiding in a house of a residential area in heart of the city.

As the mammoth general elections have kicked off in the country, the militant attacks have increased in the valley in order to instill fear among the masses and show their repulsion against the establishment.

The restive region has witnessed numerous militant attacks, insurgency, and infiltration attempts from across the border in the last two decades.
