The England and Wales Cricket Board has rejected claims that spinner Graeme Swann tampered with the ball during the closing stages of the first Test at Trent Bridge.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Swann came under scrutiny for putting spray on his hands but an ECB spokeswoman has said that he was only drying his hands.

It was added that umpires checked the ball at every break in play and at no stage were any concerns raised in the match.
