Erin Brockovich-Ellis, who was arrested on Friday after she allegedly drunkenly drove her boat on a Nevada lake, has issued a public apology.

In a statement released on Sunday, the environmental activist said that at no time was the boat away from the dock and there was no public safety risk.

But the 52-yesr-old added that she takes drunk driving very seriously and the incident was clearly a big mistake, People magazine reported.

She further said that she knew better and she is very sorry.

Brockovich was approached by a game warden on Lake Mead near Las Vegas, when he saw that she was struggling to put the boat in the Boat Harbor.

The warden asked her to take a field sobriety test, which she failed and she was consequently booked into the Clark County Detention Center and released after posting 1,000 dollars bail.
