Former Liverpool footballer John Aldridge has urged the club not to offer controversial striker Luis Suarez a new contract, saying that the Uruguayan should not be awarded for wanting to leave the club.
According to Metro.co.uk, although Suarez had asked for a move away from Anfield over the summer, he eventually stayed put, and reports suggested the Reds are set to tie him down to a new long-term contract.
However, Aldridge has slammed the idea, saying that as Suarez was very keen to leave Liverpool in the summer, he will look to get away once again, so there is no use of committing him to the club now.
According to Aldridge, if Liverpool failed to qualify for the Champions League once again this season, Suarez will again want to leave, adding that the club should get as much money for him as possible and rebuild the team with the new funds.
Suarez would reportedly pocket around 160,000 pounds-a-week as part of a new deal, which would make him Liverpool's most highly paid ever, the report added.
