Former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung, who won four league titles at the club since his signing from PSV Eindhoven in 2005, has announce his retirement from football at the age of 33.

The South Korean, who was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson, said that knee issues meant that he could no longer play at the highest level.

According to the BBC, Park, the first Asian player to play in a Champions League final, said that he is leaving the sport with no regrets.

Park, who became the first Asian to captain United when he took the armband from Ryan Giggs during a Champions League fixture in 2005, said that he enjoyed playing football, and has achieved more than he thought that he would.

Park, who played 100 times for South Korea and scored at three World Cups, said that he is grateful for all the support he has received and will live the rest of his life thinking about how he can pay it back.

The South Korean scored 27 goals in 25 appearances and won 11 trophies at United before he joined Queens Park Rangers in 2012, and later moved back to the Dutch side PSV on loan for the 2013-14 season after Rangers were relegated from the Premier League, the report added.
