External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met the Vietnam President Truong Tan Sang today.
Swaraj discussed many subjects with Sang, including defense relations, commercial activities and cultural programmes.
In a press conference, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said that the meeting was a successful one. He said, "It was discussed that both sides should have high level meets during course of the year. It was a substantive and a productive meeting."
Akbaruddin also added that President Pranab Mukherjee will visit Vietnam in few months, while the Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Tan Dung will visit India by the end of this year.
Swaraj is visiting Vietnam for the first time and her three-day visit will conclude tomorrow.
