It's been 20 years since the death of American-Canadian actor, Philip Edward Hartmann, better known as Phil Hartman, and his fans are pouring in messages remembering the artist.
A fan with a verified account wrote, "Today marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Phil Hartman. The most versatile performer to ever grace the Saturday Night Live stage. He's still the greatest that has ever been".
Another fan posted, "In honor of the late, great Phil Hartman, here's one of his most underrated SNL sketches (in my humble opinion), "Robot Repair". His slow-boiling robot rage is fantastic. #PhilHartman".
One tweet read, "Today is 20 years since one of the funniest people to ever be on #SNL passed away. I still miss him a lot.... #philHartman".
"I always wonder about what kind of magic #PhilHartman would've gone on to make in the 2000s", read a post.
One fan posted, "I remember my dad called me to say Phil Hartman died. (He knew I loved Hartman and SNL.) That was 20 years ago. Wow. He was my favorite SNL cast member. Still is. #PhilHartman".
Better known for his roles in shows like 'Saturday Night Live', 'NewsRadio', and 'The Simpsons', Phil was one of the much-loved stars of his times.
The news of his death in 1998 came as a shock to the whole world. He was shot dead, at the age of 50, by his third wife, Brynn Hartman, following her struggle with drug addiction. Reportedly, Brynn was high on cocaine on the night she shot Phil and later committed suicide, within hours.
The couple was survived by their two daughters - a son and a daughter.
