The 'Furious' has left behind the 'Force' in terms of earning big bucks!
The eighth installment of 'Fast and the Furious' is showing zero signs of holding up at the global box office as F Gary Gray's directorial raced to a earth-shattering 532 million USD global debut over Easter weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie knocked down JJ Abram's 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' to nab the first position, which garnered 529 million USD in the opening weekend.
The final numbers showed the Universal film earning 100.2 million USD domestically and 432.2 million USD overseas for a global total of 532.5 million USD.
The action movie did not only broke this record, but also surpassed fellow Universal movie 'Jurassic World' to score the best international launch of all time.
Universal international distribution chief Duncan Clark said, "This franchise is showing no sign of wear and tear. 'Fate of the Furious' is satisfying audiences on many different levels."
'Furious 8' also saw the advantage of the biggest three-day bow in history and the top opening ever for a Hollywood title by opening to a massive 192.1 million USD and debuted at No. 1 in all 63 foreign markets.
'Furious 7' was far and away the biggest earner and the only installment to cross 1 billion USD on its way to finishing its worldwide run with 1.516 billion USD.
Helmed by F Gary Gray, the flick stars Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Michelle Rodriguez in pivotal roles.
