Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore has said that movies in the Indian Panorama section have an emotional appeal with the audiences as they can relate them with their own culture, region and language.
"The art of storytelling through movies has undergone a change with the times and a trend has now started in India to produce Films based on inspiring stories of real life events," Rathore mentioned this while inaugurating the Indian Panorama Film Festival at Siri Fort auditorium yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that with the paradigm change in technology and business models, the process of film making is becoming democratic, making it a level playing field giving opportunities to creativity.
He further asserted that the lines between commercial and art cinema have blurred and low budget movies have also succeeded at the Box Office.
The Minister, while paying tribute to the veteran film actor late Om Puri, said that the latter was a committed film personality who gave his best in every venture that he was associated with throughout his life.
The Indian Panorama Film Festival, organised by Directorate of Film Festivals shall be screening a package of films of Late Om Puri to pay tribute to the legendary actor.
A total of five iconic films in which Om Puri has acted will be screened from 17th - 21st January in Siri Fort Auditorium III at 6pm.
This is to commemorate the journey of his life as an actor and an iconic figure in Indian Film Industry, who have brought films closer to actuality and awareness to his countrymen.
The festival will open with the Documentary film "Ima Sabitri" directed by Bobo Khuraijam and Hindi feature film "Pinky Beauty Parlour" directed by Akshay Singh.
