FIR against IPS officer reflects 'political vindictiveness': Siddharth Nath Singh

BJP national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh on Sunday termed the filing of an FIR against IPS officer Amitabh Thakur as an act of 'political vindictiveness' by the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) Government.

"This is nothing but political vindictiveness by the Samajwadi Party government. It shows that earlier under Mulayam Singh there was a gunda-raj, now under his son it is a jungle-raj," Singh told ANI here.

"There isn't any resemblance of good governance in Uttar Pradesh. That is the reason we see Amitabh Thakur filing an FIR and he is facing challenges in filing an FIR against Mulayam Singh, against whom there is a voice recording where he has threatened the IPS officer and now what we see today that he is being booked in a rape case, his wife is being booked under abetment," he added.

The FIR was registered against Thakur filed in Lucknow's Gomti Nagar police station today.

The complaint names Thakur, who had yesterday alleged that Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had threatened him over the phone, as a rape accused.
