A raging fire engulfed a water jar manufacturing factory in the wee hours of Sunday in Noida and over a dozen fire tenders swung into action to douse the inferno.
No causalities or burn injuries have been reported so far. A short circuit is said to have caused the inferno.
Fire fighters had to struggle for hours to douse the blaze.
Police said over a dozen fire tenders were immediately set in action to ensure that there was not much loss to the property.
"Here in Sector 63, there is a factory by the name of Sagar industry that manufactures plastic chemicals and buckets. Here there has been a fire and it has been going on for the past two hours. More than a dozen vehicles have been deployed in extinguishing the fire and there has been no loss of life and all efforts are being made in bringing this fire under control," said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vishwajeet Srivastav.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire suddenly emanated after a blast was heard on the second floor of the factory building.
Factory workers said the inferno was uncontrollable at first as a result it spread fast to other floors due to delay in the arrival of fire controlling unit.
"This fire started around 1:05 am. There was a lock lying on the second floor. We heard the noise of a blast, there were eight to ten people working in the lower floors and they noticed that the floor was on fire. Then we started taking out our things and called the police, PCR but no one picked the phone. They picked up later. By then the fire had spread to other areas of the factory. The fire brigade vehicles came 20 minutes after that. The vehicles of fire brigade came after two o'clock," said Vijay, a factory worker.
Due to presence of chemicals in the factory, the fire fighters had to toil to bring the blaze under control. Over a dozen fire tenders were deployed to ensure safety of life and property.
A loss of over one hundred thousand rupees has been estimated so far.
